Paag, a techfin that is hub of solutions for the regulated betting market, has introduced new features for preventing money laundering (AML) and terrorist financing in betting houses. Since the launch of the company's AML solution in April, the platform has already analyzed more than 89 million transactions, with official validation from the Central Bank (Bacen) and proven robustness. 3i6t57

Paag’s AML service was developed in partnership with BS2 and inspired by the banking experience of the company, a Paag partner. The solution is specifically designed for the betting market and fully automates the monitoring of financial transactions in the so-called 'Bets' as provided in Law 14.790/23, which regulates the sector.

According to Paag, the product has demonstrated efficiency, compliance, and security, consolidating the techfin as a leader in solutions for the regulated betting market.

The features include continuous monitoring of 100% of player transactions, automatic detection of suspicious activity, and alert generation. It also creates automatic reports for Coaf and allows for the customization of risk rules according to the license profile of each betting operator.

When we partnered with BS2, one of our main goals was to bring robust, innovative solutions to the market with the structure of a bank. Paag’s AML is proof that this partnership delivers results: we’ve already analyzed more than 89 million transactions and continue to help the market operate with safety, efficiency, and full compliance with regulations,” celebrates João Fraga, CEO of Paag.

The AML solution is also integrated with other company products and operates within the Paag Shield, which has been developed since last year to allow 'Bets' to gain in-depth knowledge of their customers’ profiles and behavior on the platform.

Key differentiators of Paag’s AML service

What the regulation says about money laundering prevention

Concern over money laundering prevention is one of the main themes in the sector's regulation, present since Law 14.790/23, which regulated sports betting, and further reinforced by Normative Ordinance No. 1.143, published in 2024 by the Secretariat of Prizes and Betting of the Ministry of Finance.

Recently, at the beginning of the year, the government formally required 'Bets' to present effective AML policies.

Among the policies to combat illicit practices, betting platforms operating in Brazil must identify and classify the risk of bettors. All suspicious transactions must be reported to the Council for Financial Activities Control (Coaf), the Federal Government body that fights money laundering.

Paag is a technology company specializing in the iGaming and betting market, offering a complete ecosystem of solutions for operators seeking efficiency, security, and compliance in the regulated market.
